Improved

13.04.2026: Knowledge Space access requests & installation experience

Moderators can now reject Knowledge Space access requests with comments, and the installation experience has also been improved.

1. Decline Knowledge Space requests with optional message

Moderators of private Knowledge Spaces can now decline access requests directly within Starmind, with the option to include a comment explaining the reason. Requesting users are notified of the decision via in-app notification.

🚀 What's new

When a user requests access to a private Knowledge Space, the moderator sees both an Approve and a Decline option. Selecting Decline prompts the moderator to optionally enter a comment explaining why the request was denied. The requesting user is then notified of the decline via an in-app notification.

💎 Key benefits

  • Reduced moderator workload: Eliminating the need for previous workarounds to decline access requests
  • Scales effectively: For organisations with large user bases
  • Communicate effortlessly: Provides a clear, structured way to communicate access denials

2. Installation Flow Improvements

We introduced a more guided installation flow and a smarter push notification re-prompt strategy.

🚀 What's new

When a new user arrives on the Home page, they see updated widget content designed to reduce overwhelm from multiple simultaneous installation prompts. If a user taps Install on mobile, a full-page overlay appears with an animated GIF demonstrating how to install the PWA.

Additionally, if a user has previously declined push notifications, the system will surface a one-time re-prompt overlay after 3 months.

💎 Key benefits

  • Reduced Friction and overwhelm: Limiting the simultaneous display of multiple installation prompts
  • No barriers: Provides a clearer, more visual installation guide via a GIF-based overlay
  • Increased push notifications success rates: Gives users a second chance to opt into push notifications
