Setup and Roll Out

Learn how to configure and roll out the Starmind Microsoft 365 integration to all Starmind users for seamless collaboration.

When integrating Starmind into your Microsoft 365 workflow, we recommend starting with a defined testing user group (UAT) before rolling it out to all licensed Starmind users within your organization. This allows you to test the app's functionality and ensure a smooth deployment.

The Starmind Microsoft 365 integration is available across all Starmind pricing tiers.

Prerequisites

To ensure seamless integration of the Starmind Microsoft 365 integration within your Microsoft 365 environment, it is essential to collaborate with your Microsoft 365 and Teams administrators. Proper permissions and configurations are critical to enabling the app’s functionality and ensuring it is accessible for testing and production users.

Before starting the setup, ensure the following:

  • You have administrative access to both Microsoft Teams and Microsoft 365 Admin Centers, or you know who to contact for assistance.
  • The necessary Graph API Permissions have been reviewed and communicated to the Microsoft 365 and Teams administrators, along with details about the Starmind Microsoft 365 integration integration.
  • A testing user group is defined to validate the integration before broader deployment. The group members need to have access to your Starmind network.

Requesting Starmind Microsoft 365 Integration Installation

To integrate your Starmind network with Microsoft 365, request the installation via our technical support channel providing your Starmind network domain (*.starmind.com) and your organization's Microsoft 365 tenant ID. You will get notified once your Starmind network is ready to test the integration.

If You Are Not a Microsoft 365 or Teams Administrator

If you do not have administrative access to Microsoft 365 or Microsoft Teams, follow these steps to coordinate with your organization’s administrators:

  1. Identify the Administrators

    • Reach out to your IT department or check your organization’s internal directory to find the Microsoft 365 or Teams administrators. Common job titles to look for include:
      • Microsoft 365 Systems Administrator, Collaboration Tools Administrator, Enterprise Collaboration Manager, Unified Communications Administrator, Cloud Services Administrator, IT Infrastructure, Specialist, Cloud Solutions Architect (Microsoft 365), Azure Administrator
  2. Provide Documentation

    • Share the following details with the administrators:
  3. Request Confirmation of Permissions

    • Ask the administrators to:
      • Confirm that all documented Graph API Permissions have been granted.
      • Request reasoning if any permissions are denied or exceptions are made, and communicate this to Starmind, ensuring the impact of those decisions on the integration is clear.
  4. Coordinate Testing (UAT)

    • Collaborate with the test user group to validate the integration by following the user acceptance testing guide after the configuration is complete.
    • Provide feedback on any issues encountered during testing to Starmind through the technical support channel or directly within the integration using the "Request support" button.
  5. Follow Up for Deployment

    • Once the user acceptance testing (UAT) is successful, work with the administrators to roll out the app to all Starmind users.
    • Once the Starmind app has been assigned to all Starmind users, both Microsoft Teams and Microsoft 365 will notify users that the Starmind app is available for use. These notifications will prompt users to access and start using the app within their Teams and Microsoft 365 environments.

Productive rollout to all Starmind Users

As part of the initial Starmind rollout, an Entra ID group was created to grant access to the Starmind network via Entra ID SSO. In the following examples, we assume this group has been named "Starmind." This group should be reused for the productive rollout of the Starmind Microsoft 365 integration.
